Saturday, September 9 Arrival at Munich Airport in the afternoon - closed to the public - 5.00 p.m.: Ride through downtown Munich in "papamobile" - Good opportunity to see and welcome the Pope - 5.30 p.m.: Reception and prayers at the Mariensäule on Marienplatz in Munich - Public event – Thereafter ride in "papamobile" to meet representatives of the government in the Residenz - Max-Joseph-Platz open to the public – Sunday, September 10 9.30 a.m.: Arrival of the Pope for special service and ride in "papamobile" over the open-air ground at the New Fairgrounds in Munich to the altar island 10.00 a.m.: Beginning of eucharist service with sermon by the Pope followed by Angelus prayers with the Pope 5.30 p.m.: Vesper with young families, catechists, teachers of religion and communion children in Munich Cathedral ("Liebfrauendom") - Tickets have already all been distributed. – Thereafter ride in "papamobile" through downtown Munich Monday, September 11: Holy Father's Visit to Altötting from 7.00 a.m.: Introductory program starts 9.45 a.m.: Holy Father arrives at Chapel Square – Prayers in the "Gnadenkapelle" (Chapel of the Miraculous Image) 10.30 a.m.: Eucharist service starts at Chapel Square 12.30 pm.: Procession with the ostensorium to the new worship chapel 3.15 p.m.: Transfer of the "Gnadenbild" (portrait with miraculous powers) to basilica 4.30 p.m.: Holy Father rides to basilica: Vesper held by Holy Father with members of the order and seminarians in the basilica 6.45 p.m.: Arrival in Marktl, visit to the parish church of St. Oswald Approx. 7.00 p.m.: Flight to Regensburg Evening: Arrival in Regensburg Tuesday, September 12 9.30 a.m.: Holy Father arrives at Islinger Field 10.00 a.m.: Special service in Regensburg 5.00 p.m.: Meeting with representatives of the academic world in the University of Regensburg 6.30 p.m.: Celebration of Vespers and ecumenical gathering Wednesday, September 13 Private meeting of the Pope with his brother Thursday, September 14 Departure for Freising, Holy Father arrives in Freising at around 10.00 a.m.: Ride through downtown Freising in "papamobile" 10.30 a.m.: Freising Mariendom Cathedral - Prayers at the shrine of St. Corbinian, Meeting with priests and deacons from the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising - Closed to the public - Send-off at Munich Airport - closed to the public - |
